Deliverance Church Fortportal - Toro Region
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Deliverance Church, Fort Portal is affiliated to Deliverance Church, Uganda and was started in 1983 after a successful outreach or and evangelistic campaign with crusades in the region.
The church first started in a primary school where it was evicted by the school authorities under the influence of politicians and religious leaders after seven years. This retarded the progress and growth of the church, as she had no specific place of worship for a period of two years leading to some members falling off! In 1992 it was accepted back in the school on terms and conditions of renovating particular blocks annually and this went on until the year 2000 when it was again displaced from the school premises. At this juncture the church administration decided to rent a hall in town, which was a former bar!
Currently the church has a regular membership of thirty (30) members, children inclusive.
